OVERVIEW
Monel 400® is woven into an extremely corrosion resistant wire mesh material. This is a plain square weave (over one, under one). Weaving meets ANSI/AWCI - 01 -1992 and ASTM E 2016-99 and RRW 360 This alloy contains approximately 67% nickel, 28% copper, and 5% other elements. Werkstoff No. W.Nr. 2.4360, W.Nr. 2.4361 UNS N0. 4400 Resists salt and fresh water. Good around most food. It is considered a high strength material. For someone unfamiliar with wire mesh terminology, 2 mesh has two wires in each direction in a square inch. You could easily pass a pencil through the openings. 16 mesh is what is used in a window or porch screens to keep out common insects. 60 mesh is the size commonly used in kitchen faucets. An 80 mesh has an opening which will barely pass a human hair. A piece of paper is about three thousandths (.003) of an inch.
