    OVERVIEW

    Monel 400® is woven into an extremely corrosion resistant wire mesh material. This is a plain square weave (over one, under one). Weaving meets ANSI/AWCI - 01 -1992 and ASTM E 2016-99 and RRW 360

    This alloy contains approximately 67% nickel, 28% copper, and 5% other elements.

    Resists salt and fresh water. Good around most food. It is considered a high strength material.

    Monel* 400 Wire Mesh - Cutting

    Monel* 400 meshes cut easily with good quality hand tools. The heavy meshes from 2 mesh through 50 mesh is best cut with Aircraft style shears or tin snips. To cut 60 mesh and finer, you can use a common scissor

    Monel* 400 Wire Mesh - Choosing a mesh size

    For someone unfamiliar with wire mesh terminology, 2 mesh has two wires in each direction in a square inch. You could easily pass a pencil through the openings.

    16 mesh is what is used in a window or porch screens to keep out common insects. 60 mesh is the size commonly used in kitchen faucets. An 80 mesh has an opening which will barely pass a human hair. A piece of paper is about three thousandths (.003) of an inch. Monel* 400 wire mesh samples are available and can be ordered online.
