More information about Sintered Wire Mesh

OVERVIEW

Sintered mesh is special because it is non-fraying and all of the wires are joined together. These meshes are manufactured from stainless steel T316 which resists oxidation. T316 maybe operated up to 1500 degrees Fahrenheit.

Sintered Wire Mesh -- How it is made

Sintered wire mesh is produced by a series of technical processes. Precision wire mesh is first woven and then uniformly calendered (roller flattened) to ensure good contact at the wire cross over points.

One or more layers of this calendered mesh are then laminated under mechanical pressure in special fixtures inside a high temperature furnace. This furnace is filled with a proprietary inert gas atmosphere and the temperature is raised to a point where diffusion bonding (sintering) occurs.

After controlled cooling, the mesh has now become rigid by the bonding of the individual wires to each other and of each layer to the adjacent layer

A final cleaning, inspection, packing, and certification complete the process. It is packed first in polyethylene sheeting and then placed between two sheets of sturdy honeycomb packaging material for shipment.

Sintered Wire Mesh - Examples of Uses

  • Diffuser screens
  • Breather vents
  • Non-fraying wire mesh discs
  • Hydraulic filters

Sintered Wire Mesh - Cutting

Cut the one layer sintered meshes with a fine scissor or shear. Cut the two and three layer screens with a light duty tin snip.

TWP will cut discs and rectangles to order from this material. You will save time and money, by purchasing these clean-edged ready-to- use discs and rectangles.

Sintered Wire Mesh - Discs

  • 500 standard disc diameters
  • Same day delivery on stock items
  • Tolerance to +/- .001 inch
  • Special diameters in three days

Our "Quot-O-Matic" Disc pricer can get you quick quotes by phone. You will need to Indicate material, disc diameter, mesh and quantity.

Sintered Wire Mesh - Samples

TWP Inc. will provide swatches for your testing and inspection. The cost is $8 per 1" x 1" sample (except $75 for 6" x 6" for the 5 layer items). Please order your swatches on-line.
